Success is an old Bantock butty, fitted with both rear and fore cabins by Ian Braine. It was used by him, on various occasions over a couple of years to carry coal for us, being towed by us or Jim Taylors’ Empress. It has been crewed regularly by Henry and Phyllis Johnson, who accompanied us one one memorable trip down to Saul on the Gloucester & Berkeley Canal to trans-ship coal onto the Narrow Boat Trust pair.

This picture shows Success leaving Awbridge behind Empress bound for Braunston in 2010, steered by Johnny Brookes.

Success has subsequently been sold, and is now a floating shop.

The lower picture shows Ian Braine in control of Roach whilst pulling Success out of Hyde Lock on the Staffs & Worcs Canal.
